Today as the pandemic wanes, after reaching the 6 million Covid 19 death milestone, and in recognition of the 2022 theme, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow,” for International Women’s Day, BDN republishes four postings from our archive.
We begin with two reflections on International Women’s Day from 2017. First Keisha Gaye-Anderson’s International Women’s Day, followed by Celebrating all that is Positive about Being a Woman by Ann Farray. Then we revisit Dr. Joanne Dowdy’s Pandemic Meditation of 2020, written amid the then raging pandemic. And we end with BDN’s 2021 editorial, “Women: Achieving an Equal Future in a Covid-19 World,” published on International Women’s Day, and underscored that women bore “the brunt of the Covid-19 crisis.’
